The ArmGrid project [1] of the Armenian e-Science Foundation (ArmeSFo) [2], aimed at the introduction and dissemination of the Grid technologies in Armenia began in the year 2002. This paper introduces the current status of the project, our steps in the establishment of a national Grid center of excellence for the promotion of a deeper involvement of the Armenian specialists in the international collaborations and frontier computer science activities. We present the work of the YerPhI group on the development of the AliEn Grid infrastructure of the CERN ALICE experiment [3]. The future plans in building national Grid infrastructure are described.
