Synthesis of New Nuclei and Study of Nuclear Properties
and Heavy-Ion Reaction Mechanisms

Leader:

Yu. Oganessian

Scientific Programme:

The experiments with 246,248Cm targets to synthesize SHE of Z=116 and close to the region of predicted spherical shells. Mass determination of superheavy nuclei produced in reactions with 48Ca. Synthesis and chemical extraction of heavy elements Z=104112 by the solution and gaschromatography chemistry methods. Investigation of the dynamics of spontaneous and induced fission and of the cluster decay. Study of the mechanism of nuclear interaction and of the decay of heavy hot compound nuclei. Investigation of nuclei close to the nucleon stability boundary. Study of nuclear reactions using radioactive nuclei beams. Investigation of the mechanism of nuclear reactions at the FOBOS facility. Investigation of the dynamics of nonequlibrium processes.
