Proposal for a Real-Time Detector for Low-Energy Solar Neutrino
(Project BOREXINO)

Scientific Programme:

  1. Direct solar neutrino flux measurements, precise Be-7 neutrino flux measurements.
  2. Spectral measurements of solar high-energy neutrinos.
  3. Study of neutrino elastic scattering on the electron with an artificial neutrino source of high intensity.
  4. Search for solar neutrino vacuum oscillations.
  5. Expected rate: 60 events/day (11 ev/d-background).
