Study of Rare Processes

Scientific Programme:

• Test of Standard Model predictions. Investigation of rare decays of K-mesons. Measurement of the branching ratio for the decay K ⁰_L ⁰ with direct CP-parity violation in experiment E391a at KEK.
• Development and use of the polarized target ⁶LiD (in Charles University, Prague) for low-energy investigation of processes which depend on spins of interacting particles.

• Development of GEANT4-based simulation software
  
  
• Designing of a mechanical structure of experimental setup E391a
  
  
• Design and manufacture of the veto detector CC3 of the E391a setup.
  
  
• Upgrading of the polarized target apparatus (at the Van de Graaff accelerator of Charles Univ., Prague) for experiments with new polarized materials. Experiments with a deuterium polarized target.
  
  
• Design of the cryostat for irradiation of ⁶LiD samples; manufacturing of the cupboard with inert substance. Beginning of irradiation of ⁶LiD samples with the microtron of the Polytechnical University of Prague.
