Information, Computer and Network Support of JINR's Activity

• Development of the external JINR computer communications: a) creation of a high-speed 1 Gbps JINR-Moscow data link, b) JINR participation in the process of implementation of the national new-generation research computer network with Russian and international (GLORIAD, GEANT) segments for provision of JINR’s activities, c) integration with the educational network of Dubna, d) realization of a fragment of the corporate network of JINR and its Member States (Republic of Belarus).
  
  
• Realization of work on breaking down of the JINR network address space to have isoleted of the high-speed JINR LAN backbone subnetworks of the Laboratories and the Management Department. Allocation of the LIT subnetwork from the Institute’s gigabit highway. Extension of the DSL-service in JINR: a) modernization of the DSL-switch to increase the number of input points, b) provision of communication links and connection of new abonents. Realization of the Hosting paradigma for different network services (WWW, ftp, telnet), provided outside the internal Institute’s network aimed to higher the network secutity level. Provision of stable operation of the JINR backbone main communication core.
  
  
• Development of the Central Information Computer Complex (CICC) in JINR: modernization and development of the monitoring system of nodes, users, data storage tools; introduction of the safety system KERBEROS (version 6) for the distributed file system AFS; expanded use of the AFS system with introduction on users’ workplaces; back-up system development on the basis of the AMANDA package; expanded use of common JINR’s disc resources with the help of the CASTOR system aimed at minimization of the JINR backbone load.
  
  
• Modernization of the system of software and technical support, making actual the informational filling of the main WWW/ FTP/ DBMS – servers of JINR and LIT. Development and maintenance for various platforms (with priority of the UNIX/LINUX-oriented platforms) of general-purpose and specialized libraries. Increasing the efficient use on the SPP2000/ LINUX-clusters LIT JINR of applied software for the solving of computational physics problems at the expense of paralleling. Participation in the development and maintenance of specialized software packages for physical processes simulation and experimental data analysis. Determination of the sphere of participating LIT specialists in the ARDA software complex development in CERN for experimental data analysis with application of advanced technologies of OGSA (Open Grid Services Architecture) type. Modernization and maintenance of computer systems for administrative activities of JINR (in cooperation with STD AMS JINR).
  
  
• Development of the Grid-segment in JINR: a) raising of the segment of the LCG2 infrastructure at JINR, b) modernization and steady renewal of WEB-portals for the projects LCG ( http://lcg.jinr.ru  ), EGEE ( http://www.egee-rdig.ru ) and Grid ( http://grid.jinr.ru ) in Russia, c) creation of the infrastructure of the European project EGEE and the Russian project RDIG at JINR (participation in work on NA2 – dissemination of information, NA3 - training, NA4 – use and maintenance of applications, and SA1 – organization of services of the infrastructure centre CIC (Core Infrastructure Center), the regional operation centre (ROC) and the resource centre (RC) at JINR), d) participation in mass event production for LHC experiments. Realization of the first stage of the project “Dubna-Grid” for creation of the city scientific and educational Grid-infrastructure.
  
  
• Support of the training process at JINR UC, University of Dubna, MIREA; development of training courses on advanced information technologies. Preparation of an infrastructure and creation of a training farm for provision of the educational process on the Grid-technologies at JINR UC.
