Information, Computer and Network Support of JINR's Activity

• Development of the external JINR computer telecommunications: a) provision of the reliable functioning of the 1 Gbps high-speed channel JINR-Moscow on the RSCC basis, b) study of the question of creating an alternative high-speed data link JINR-Moscow, c) support of backup computer communication channel; d) JINR participation in the work on implementation of the new-generation research computer network (international (GLORIAD, GEANT) and in-Russian segments) for provision of JINR's activities and with the purpose of optimization of access to Russian and global networks (RBNET, RUNNET, RUHEP, RASNET, GEANT2, GLORIAD). Creation of a multi-service JINR network. Realization of a segment of IP-telephony in JINR (in cooperation with the Comstar-UTS company). Cooperation with companies and centers for provision of these tasks: ROSNIIROS, BRSCC, SCC "Dubna", TV Center "Shabolovka", "Comstar-UTS", "Informika", RU-CENTER, RUHEP, Kurchatov Institute, EURASIA TELECOM.
  
  
• Provision of reliable and failure-safe work of the core of the JINR Local Area Network (LAN) gigabit structure; creation of the system of monitoring the whole network and its elements; creation of the system of authorization of all the network structure as well as technologies of access to the network resources; modernization of the electric power supply of the central communication node. Provision of the uninterrupted, reliable and effective operation of the JINR LAN gigabit highway. Development of new approaches for protection of local networks, control and simulation of the network traffic. Creation and maintenance of the hard- and software complex "Dubna-Traffic". Reorganization of the Backbone of the JINR Central Information Computer Complex (CICC) on the basis of the Cisco 3750 48x1000BT router. Study of the project on the change-over to the provision of 10 Gbps speed on the CICC Backbone.
  
  
• Development of the JINR Central Information Computer Complex on the basis of a modular architecture. Development and realization of five types of scalable modules: a module of disk servers, a general purpose computation module, a module of servers of disk space (volumes) AFS, a general purpose computation module capable of performing parallel computing, a general purpose servers module.
  
  Maintenance of basic software, monitoring of the functioning of all CICC units, information support of CICC operation, registration of users and consulting service. Development of a system level software (uniform system of authorizations) for the JINR information - computing infrastructure. Elaboration of the distributed CICC-based computing system in JINR. Elaboration of a systems for work with distributed computing systems, enormous data volumes, networks with different speeds of access in frames of RDIG (Russian Data Intensive Grid) and the project "Dubna-Grid". Growth of the reliability of software storage and fault tolerance of access to the software. Increase in disk space for data storage and the number of computing nodes of the JINR CICC. Reconstruction of the system of central general-purpose and specialized servers. Provision of operative control over data flows for their processing, storage and effective search on the basis of a mass memory system. Development of metacluster technologies and visualization technologies.
  
  
• Development of the program environment for information, algorithmic and software support of the research activities underway at JINR and JINR Member State institutes on the basis of CICC JINR. Development and support of information WWW/FTP/DBMS-servers of JINR and LIT, retrieval systems on LIT site. Creation and support of Internet resources with a dynamically generated content intended for group use in the framework of JINR participation in large international and Russian projects. Development and maintenance of general-purpose and specialized program libraries for various platforms. Increasing the efficient use of applied programs for solving computational physics problems by means of paralleling under the MPI package. Participation in the development and maintenance of specialized program complexes for physical processes simulation and experimental data analysis. Development and maintenance of the software for modelling, processing and storing data, information systems and databases for LHC experiments (CMS, ATLAS, ALICE).
  
  Administration of web-servers and database servers for information support of research and administrative activity in JINR. Creation and support of information systems and databases performed in cooperation with JINR sub- divisions. Development of the system of electronic libraries in JINR. Provision of access to full-text electronic versions of journals of world publishing houses. Development, creation and support of information web-sites of various meetings and conferences. Development of reengineering technology of the automated construction of computing systems for integration of independently developed software in the structure of present-day information complexes.
  
  Support of the training process at JINR UC, the International university of Nature, Society and Man "Dubna", MIREA; development of training courses on advanced information technologies.
  
  
• Extending the opportunities of using Grid-technologies on the basis of CICC JINR: a) development of the LCG infrastructure at JINR, b) testing of "middleware" for work in the distributed Grid-infrastructure; c) development of the system for monitoring and accounting resources of the Russian LCG/EGEE segment; d) support of WEB-portals for the projects LCG and EGEE in Russia; e) realization of work on the creation of a prototype of the new-generation center of base Grid-services for intensive operations with distributed data in frames of the international and Russian projects. Creation of a distributed Grid-lab. Installation of various Grid systems. Elaboration of the Grid general-purpose and specialized practical courses. Participation in projects LCG (LHC Computing Grid); EGEE (Enabling Grid for E-sciencE); "Establishment of a prototype of a new-generation center of base grid - services for intensive operations with distributed data of a federal level" that is being carried out within the national target scientific technical program "R&D on the top priority directions of the development of science and technology"; "Dubna-Grid". Development and testing of the software within the Grid projects with LIT participation. Progressing of work under the project "Dubna-Grid" aimed at the creation of the city scientific - educational Grid infrastructure. Research on the opportunities of the metacluster "Dubna-Grid" for solving the problems of experiments on LHC and on the future accelerator complex GSI. Development of the HEPWEB system and its integration with the external computing resources ("Dubna-Grid" metacluster, CICC JINR, etc.).
