Development and Construction of an Accelerator Complex
for Producing Radioactive Ion Beams

Scientific Programme:
Producing of beams of exotic light neutron-deficient and neutron-rich nuclei in reactions with light ions, producing of uranium photofission fragments, development of ion sources and charge breeders, isotope separation, acceleration of radioactive ions, design of beam diagnostic and transportation systems.

Expected main results in 2008:

Optimization of the producing target and of the ion source of light radioactive nuclei at the beams of U400MR.
Optimization of low energy ions transportation from U400MR experimental hall to U400/
Acceleration of ⁶He and ⁶Li ions on the U400 cyclotron.
Optimization of beam transportation systems of accelerated ions to experimental set-ups.
Modelling of processes in the hot target for producing of nuclear reaction products at the U400MR cyclotron. Target design and testing at the MT25 microtron.
