Construction of the IREN Facility

Scientific Programme:
IREN Development of the project IREN ( Intense Resonance Neutron Source) - a new basic facility in JINR. As a result of completion of the theme a new basic facility in JINR for innovation applied research, as well as a high-resolution neutron source applicable to applied and a limited number of fundamental investigations in nuclear physics will be created.

Expected main results in 2008:

Adaptation of clystron TH2129 into a pulse transformer block (PTB) of clystron SLAC5045, assembling of clystron TH2129 with SLAC5045 PTB in bldg.43, full-scale testing of the equipment.
Completion of assembling of equipment for the LUE-100 accelerator in bldg.43 and full-scale testing of its electrophysical systems.
Preparation of the reactor hall in bldg.43 for assembling of a test-bench for applied research and a neutron-producing target.
Assembling of a test-bench for applied research and a neutron-producing target.
