Study of Neutrino Oscillations

Scientific Programme:

Search for long-baseline neutrino oscillation and study of neutrino oscillation parameters with the OPERA detector in the CNGS beam (CERN--Gran Sasso) OPERA project.
Search for solar neutrino vacuum oscillations. Direct solar neutrino flux measurements, precise Be ⁷ neutrino flux measurements with the BOREXINO detector.
Measurement of the ₁₃ neutrino mixing angle in the Daya Bay experiment.

Expected main results in 2012:

Data taking with neutrinos from the CNGS beam at the OPERA detector.
Scanning and analysis of the OPERA nuclear emulsion at JINR.
Software development for the Target Tracker data analysis. Development of the Brick Finding software, analysis of the electronic detector data and event vertex location.
Continuation of the data taking with the BOREXINO detector.
Analysis of the results of the calibration campaign with external gamma-ray sources.
Development of a new position reconstruction algorithm for the BOREXINO detector.
The study of day/night and seasonal variations of the solar neutrino flux.
Precise measurement of the Be-7 flux with total errors down to 5%.
Improvement of the current results on the effective solar neutrino magnetic moment.
Limits on the solar antineutrino flux and relic supernovae flux.
Participation in tests and assembly of the Daya Bay central detector.
Development of Monte Carlo software for cosmogenic background simulation in the Daya Bay experiment.
