Manuscript Title: gTybalt - a free computer algebra system.
Authors: S. Weinzierl
Program title: gTybalt1.0.0
Catalogue identifier: ADSI
Journal reference: Comput. Phys. Commun. 156(2004)180
Programming language: C++.
Computer: all.
Operating system: GNU/Linux.
RAM: 8M words
Keywords: Symbolic calculations, Computer algebra.
Classification: 5.

Nature of problem:
Symbolic calculations occur nowadays in all areas of science. gTybalt is a free computer algebra system based on the C++ language.

Solution method:
gTybalt is a "bazaar"-style program, it relies on existing, freely-available packages for specific sub-tasks.

gTybalt does not try to cover every domain of mathematics. Some desirable algorithms, like symbolic integration are not implemented. It can however easily be extended in new directions. Apart from that, standard restrictions due to the available hardware apply.

Additional comments:
gTybalt requires a number of packages that are freely-available from the web and Section A of the manuscript gives details of the URLs where these can be obtained. It should be noted that the CPC library is unable to guarantee the longevity of these URLs.

Running time:
Depends on the complexity of the problem.
