The results of neutron diffraction studies of the mercury-based superconductors are presented. The experiments have been mainly performed at the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics, JINR. On the whole these results are unique from the point of view of diversity and precision. They became the basis for a series of conclusions which are of fundamental importance for understanding of superconductivity phenomenon in complex copper oxides.
