The Rare Decay Modes of Fission Fragments

Yu. P. Gangrsky

The review of experimental data on the rare modes of radioactive decay of the fission fragments is presented. These decay modes are induced by large neutron excess and high b-decay energy of fission fragments. They are developed in the delayed emission of different particles after b decay (several neutrons, a particle, heavy cluster), in the excitation of unusual states (multiple giant resonances, shape isomers). The b decay and internal conversion of g radiation in the bound states of the atom electronic shells as well as their influence on the probability of secondary particles emission are considered. The chances of observation of yet unknown but predicted by theory decay modes and new information about fission fragment nuclear structure from the study of these decay modes are discussed.
