Computer Communications
Physicists of RDMS contribute
considerably to construction of the experimental facility and the physical
program of CMS. In particular, the RDMS task force "Development of Software
and Simulation of the Physical Processes with emphasis to the Endcap and
Forward region of the CMS Detector" is of importance. The efforts and
achievements of RDMS will be not in vain if an extensive participation of
the next generation of physicists from member states in the analysis of
the physical information, and in acquiring new knowledge will be secured.
An important step in this direction consists in preparing the adequate
conditions for the physical analysis. Therefore, creation, development
and adjustment of the computer communications are among the top priorities
of RDMS. Fig. 7 shows the scheme of organisation of the international
computer network developed by CMS and RDMS.
A fast access to the experimental
data obtained at CMS will be necessary because of the gigantic scale of
information that will be generated in the proton-proton collisions at
the highest energy and luminosity. Creation of multi-layer distributed
computer clusters with fast links is being required. The RDMS
collaboration is working in this direction. The nearest task is
to establish a fast link up to 1 Gb/s between the RDMS institutes,
and to improve the communication with CERN.
