Industry involvement and education
The CMS project requires
creation of equipment of unprecedented complexity, employs the latest
achievements of high technology, and is based on international cooperation.
The considerable contribution of the RDMS collaboration to the CMS project
naturally assumes a long-term and extensive involvement of the industries
of the JINR member states in the construction of the set-up. In this way,
the possibilities for industrial cooperation and contracts appear.
Participation of talented young Russian scientists and engineers
in this project builds their skills and professional craft. This
takes place for scientific, technological, and social occupations,
e.g., in electronics, information technology, management, etc.
This is extremely important for realization of long-term scientific
projects. Presently, young scientists of 20-30 years of age participate
in the activities of RDMS, and prove their ability to work efficiently
in an environment of a big collaboration. CERN also provides financial
support for participation of the Russian students in the CERN Summer
Schools.
Young physicists participate in
the RDMS task force "Development of Software and Simulation of the
Physical Processes with emphasis to the Endcap and Forward region of
the CMS Detector". This program concentrates on the physical processes at
large pseudorapidities [7]
- the domain of major apparatus
responsibility of RDMS.
