Medico-biological and clinical research for the treatment of cancer patients with beams of heavy nuclear particles of the JINR Phasotron and for the accompanying diagnostics.

Expected main results in 2001:

Irradiation of malignant tumours with proton beams in treatment rooms 1 and 2.
Development and test of the technique to irradiate arterovenous malformations with proton beam in room 1.
Development and improvement of detectors and tools for clinical dosimetry of the medical hadron beams.
Development of a method and equipment for production of positron-emitting isotopes with the JINR Phasotron.
Investigations on the molecular spectra of gene mutations induced by radiation in animal and human cells.
