Development of the IBR-2 Spectrometer Complex
and Information-Computation Infrastructure

Scientific Programme:

Upgrade of the existing IBR-2 spectrometers and creation of new spectrometers. Design and construction of new detectors, neutron optical systems, and mechanical systems of the spectrometers. Development of electronic equipment and program packets for data acquisition systems, extension of the local area network (LAN), realization of the MCC project.

Expected main results in 2001:

Completion of the manufacturing of blocks of the reflectometric shoulder of the SPN spectrometer and mounting of the shoulder in the beam.
Upgrade of detector systems in the YuMO spectrometer.
Creation of a control desk for filling detectors with gas and preparing of a clean room in building 119.
Increase of reliability and speed of data traffic in the network segment of the IBR-2 experimental instruments.
Development of software for VME-systems of the IBR-2 spectrometers;
Development of software for control of experiments and preliminary processing of data from multidetector systems.
Design of electronics for data acquisition from position-sensitive detectors (MSGC and MWPC) on the basis of mesanin technologies (in collaboration with HMI, Berlin).
Routine operation of the measuring and control systems of the IBR-2 spectrometers.
