Scientific Programme:
The experiments with ²⁴⁸Cm and ²⁴⁹Cf targets to synthesize SHE of Z=116,118 and close to the region of predicted spherical shells. Mass determination of superheavy nuclei produced in reactions with ⁴⁸Ca. Synthesis and chemical extraction of heavy elements Z=104

112 by the solution and gaschromatography chemistry methods. Investigation of the dynamics of spontaneous and induced fission and of the cluster decay. Study of the mechanism of nuclear interaction and of the decay of heavy hot compound nuclei. Investigation of nuclei close to the nucleon stability boundary. Study of nuclear reactions using radioactive nuclei beams.

Expected main results in 2002:

Synthesis of nuclei with Z=115 and 118 in reactions ⁴⁸Ca+ ²⁴³Am and ⁴⁸Ca+ ²⁴⁸Cf.
Mass determination of superheavy nuclides at the VASSILISSA separator.
Experiments on chemical isolation and identification of heavy isotopes of the element with Z=112 produced in the ²³⁸U( ⁴⁸Ca,3-4n) reactions and detection of the -decay and spontaneous fission fragments in coincidence with neutrons.
Measurements of subbarrier fusion-fission in the Pb,U, ²⁴⁴Pu, ²⁴⁸Cm + ( ⁴⁸Ca, ⁵⁸Fe, ⁶⁴Ni, ⁸⁶Kr) reactions and analysis of the low-energy fission dynamic using the multidetector "Demon" and a fission fragment trigger "Corset".
Study at the separator COMBAS using intermediate energy projectiles of the yield and properties of heavy oxygen isotopes.
Investigation of elastic and inelastic scattering of ^6,8He, experiments with the tritium beam and target. Design of the "ISTRA" set-up at the U400 radioactive beam.
