Scientific Programme:
Medico-biological and clinical research for the treatment of cancer patients with beams of heavy nuclear particles of the JINR Phasotron and for the accompanying diagnostics.

Expected main results in 2004:

Continuation of clinical researches on proton therapy of cancer patients in room No 1.
Improvement of a therapeutic chair in treatment room 1 to perform irradiation of patients in supine position.
Development of method and equipment for irradiation of prostate cancer patients with a proton beam.
Development and improvement of detectors and tools for clinical dosimetry of the medical hadron beams.
Investigations on the molecular spectra of gene mutations induced by radiation in animal and human cells.
