Charmed and Strange Quarks in Hadronic Reactions
(OSCAR)

Scientific Programme:
Experiment EXCHARM-II at IHEP (Protvino) is designed to search for exotic states with strange quarks and to study the production and decay of particles with charmed and strange quarks.
Experiment NA48 at CERN is purposed to obtain the most precise data on the CP-violation processor and rare kaon decays. The experiment is continued for a high sensitivity study of K_s and neutral hyperon decays using a modified K_s beam, and precision measurement of charged kaon decay parameters with the upgraded NA48 set-up and new K12 beam line.
Experiment H1 is purposed to study processes of deep-inelastic ep-scattering in a wide kinematic range up to very high Q ² and down to very low Bjorken

Expected main results in 2004:

New experimental data will be accumulated, processed and analysed.
New results on kaon and hyperon decays will be obtained on the base of data accunulated in 1999-2003 runs.
New programmes to monitor data taking, for simulation and data analyses will be developed.
Preparation and carry out an experimental run at CERN SPS in accordance with the programme to study charged kaon decay NA48/2.
Preparation of new proposal ro study kaon rare decays at CERN SPS.
Study of asymmetry in inclusive production cross-sections of ^- and ⁺.
The A-dependence of hyperons inclusive production cross-section will be measured.
The investigation Bose-Einstein correlations for the identical boson pair will be continued.
New BPC chamber, PLUG detector and FPS spectometer will be in operation.
Development of reconstruction programmes for BPC, PLUG and FPS-detectors.
Diffractive structure function F₂ ^D(3) will be measured in DIS processes with a leading proton in the final state.
Measurement of the diffractive inclusive cross section of photo-production and get photo-production hadrons with high transverse momentum.
