Theoretical and Experimental Investigations of the Electronuclear Method of Energy Production and Radioactive Waste Transmutation

• Development of a specialized channel to irradiate neutron-conducting targets and activation detectors on the IX beam of DLNP Phasotron.
  
  
• Irradiation of thin radioactive uranium and transuranium samples inside the secondary field of neutrons generated in a thick lead target exposed to a 660 MeV proton beam.
  
  
• Irradiation of bismuth and yttrium samples located inside and on surface of the lead target exposed to a 0.660-3.5 GeV proton beam.
  
  
• Measuring of neutron spectra on the surface of a heavy neutron-conducting target irradiated with 0.660-3.5 GeV protons.
  
  
• Measuring the isotope composition and activities of radionuclides in the irradiated samples.
  
  
• Designing of the experimental electronuclear installation SAD. a) optimization of the SAD structure and composition; b) calculation of energy release in constructional elements of the SAD; c) calculations related to determination of dependence of the effective neutron multiplication coefficient K_eff upon modification of the SAD construction; d) calculations on the radiation shielding of the installation, estimation of the ionizing radiation dose around the SAD; e) preparation of cross-sections and calculations of induced activity in SAD devices and radiation shielding; f) calculation of the neutron spectra on the surface and around the thick target.
