Radiation Effects and Physical Basis of Nanotechnology, Radioanalytical and Radioisotope Investigations at the FLNR Accelerators

Scientific Programme:
Study of effects produced by heavy ions in matter aiming at the development of nanotechnological applications of ion beams. Works related to life sciences: production of ultra-pure isotopes and research of the properties of practically important radionuclides.
Modernization of the FLNR accelerator complex for the production of medical isotopes and development of methods of material modification.

Expected main results in 2011:

Study of radiation hardness of nanostructurized zirconium nitride irradiated with heavy ions of fission fragments energy.
Optical and X-ray diffraction studies of mechanical stress in Al₂O₃ bombarded with swift heavy ions.
The results of the Fe allocations formation in Al after He ions bombardment.
Investigation of pore crossings on the propagation of ultrasonic waves through micro- and nanopores obtained by ion track method.
Development of novel ultrathin nanopore membranes from silicon dioxide and silicon nitride for atomic beam nanolithography and other applications.
The production of two-ply composite nanomembranes with asymmetrical conductivity.
The new methods of separation and concentration of radioactive isotopes ^195mPt and ²³⁶Np.
