Sport Tradition is bornOn 21-22 June, the archery competition "Double York in Dubna" was held at the JINR Stadium "Nauka". The competition was organized by the Archery Club "Oakwood" and the RLBC (Russian Longbow Club). These competitions are held in Dubna for the second year and new ones have joined the athletes that already came last year. The number of participants has grown to 35 people (against 25 last year) that indicates the increasing popularity of the tournament. The two-day format is not easy for both organizers and participants. In addition, the organizers have a heavy burden of ensuring the safety of all visitors to the Stadium. The competitions are held simultaneously in three events: York (shooting at 91.4 meters, 73 and 55 meters), Hereford (73 meters, 55 and 45.7 meters) and Bristol 2 (55, 45.7 and 36.5 meters). The participants have to complete 144 test shots in a day and competitions can last up to 6 hours and are held in any weather.
Despite the unfavorable cold and rainy weather forecast, 35 brave archers gathered in Dubna to compete in these interesting events. On the first day, everyone steadfastly passed the test with the wind constantly changing direction that required adjustment even during the same series. Afterwards, the sun came out and even despite only 18 degrees, many participants burned out. On the second day, already during the shooting, a rain test awaited us but fortunately for us, it did not last long that allowed the athletes to improve the results shown on the first day. According to the results of two days, having made 288 test shots in two test rounds, the JINR employees Hussein Karatash (DLNP), Egor Tamashevich (VBLHEP), Pavel Kogout (FLNR), Ivan Gorelyshev (VBLHEP), Madelina Miloy (VBLHEP) and Yulia Parfenova (FLNR) took prizes.
The tournament was wonderful, we thank all the club members that helped in its organization, as well as the administration of the Stadium "Nauka" for providing a venue. Thanks to all our guests that have come from other cities, we are waiting for you in Dubna at the next competitions. Yulia PARFENOVA
