Experiments with the Solenoidal Tracker at the Collider of Relativistic Nuclei and Polarized Protons RHIC
(Project STAR)

Scientific Programme:

Search for quark-gluon plasma signals and study of the plasma matter properties in heavy-ion collisions. Investigation of the spin structure of particles and testing of spin-dependent effects of the electroweak theory. QCD tests.

Construction of the STAR detector (participation).
Participation in the experimental runs and obtaining of physics results from STAR experimental data.
Development of the Handedness measurement methods for jet production processes.
Spin structure functions extraction for protons.

Expected main results in 2002:

Participation of LPP's group in the experimental runs of the STAR detector;
Participation in the assembly of BEMC modules and their mounting on the STAR detector;
Manufacture of 10 pieces of PMT boxes for BEMC STAR;
Completion of assembly of the frame of a full-scale prototype of the 30 deg. EMC module;
Realization of the simulation programme on measurement in the JET events generated in pp-collisions at 200 GeV.
