On 30 September - 6 October, 2002, Dubna will host the V International Congress on Mathematical Modelling (V ICMM) organized by the Laboratory of Information Technologies of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (LIT/JINR), Dubna, Institute for Mathematical Modelling, RAS and the Scientific Council of Mathematical Modelling of the Russian Academy of Sciences headed by academician A.A.Samarsky.

The purpose of the congress is to discuss a wide spectrum of problems of mathematical modelling in techniques, physics, biology, chemistry, ecology, economics and sociology. Particular attention will be focussed on the actual problems of computer simulation with high-performance computing systems and software developments.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

The program will include 30 min plenary lectures, 15 min talks and posters. The plenaries will be held in the LIT Conference Hall. The Congress will be organized on 12 topics:

1. Mathematical modelling with high-performance computing systems
2. Mathematical models and software support in computational physics
3. Mathematical models of transfer and evolution in nonlinear and information-active systems
4. Mathematical modelling of processes in micro- and nanoelectronics
5. Mathematical modelling of the properties of composite materials
6. Mathematical modelling in the mechanics of deformed matter
7. Mathematical modelling of turbulent processes
8. Mathematical modelling of processes in transition and boundary layers
9. Mathematical models of nonlinear dynamics and synergetics
10. Mathematical and computer models of intellectual systems
11. Mathematical models in economics and sociology
12. Mathematical modelling of chemical, biomolecular and ecological systems.

The Congress will be attended by prominent Russian scientists including 25 acting members and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading scientists of the well-known world research institutes.

Depending on the number of the presented reports, short communications will be distributed on parallel sections. A preliminary program will be available later at the congress web-site.

Paper submission

V ICMM invites the submission of papers on the topics listed above. One-page abstracts of the presentations should be submitted in English by e-mail to:strizh@jinr.ru and formatted as LaTeX or Word document files. Patterns are available at the congress web-site.

Note: According to the rules of the JINR Publishing Department, all citizens of the Russian Federation should submit (either by FAX or by postal mail) the so-called "act of expertise".

Exhibition facilities

Mini-exhibition facilities will be available for those companies and organizations wishing to present their hard- and software products and services.

Proceedings of the V ICMM

After the Congress all the papers chosen by the V ICMM Program and Advisory Committees will be published in special issues of referred journals. All the contributors will be provided with the "Formatting Guidelines and Submission Instructions for Authors" immediately upon finishing the Congress.
