Decade of Science and Technology

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin declared 2022-2031 the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia, follows from the Decree of the Head of the State, published on the official Internet portal of legal information on Monday.

"In order to strengthen the role of science and technology in addressing the most important tasks related to the development of society and the country, considering the results achieved during the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation in 2021, I decide to declare the years 2022-2031 the Decade of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation," is stated in Presidential Decree.

According to the document, the main goals of the Decade of Science and Technology are attracting talented youth to the field of research and development, promoting the involvement of researchers and developers in addressing the most essential tasks of the development of society and the country, as well as making information on the achievements and prospects of Russian science more available to citizens of the Russian Federation.

To achieve the goals, a Coordinating Committee for the Decade of Science and Technology was created, co-chaired by Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. In total, the Committee included more than 30 members.

President instructed the government to approve the plan for holding the thematic Decade considered by the Coordinating Committee within three months, to ensure the preparation and annual review of reports on the implementation of such a plan and to provide all the required funding. In turn, the authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation are encouraged to take part in the implementation of the plan, as well as to develop and approve regional plans.
