Event comment Hall of the Institute in the City MuseumOn 29 July, a new exposition "Hall of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research" was opened in the Dubna Museum.Congratulating the citizens and guests of Dubna on behalf of the multinational team, Director of the Institute Grigory Trubnikov emphasized that the exhibition would be the first of the events of the additional JINR program within the framework of the International Year of Fundamental Sciences, one of the organisers of which was JINR. This large-scale global project was designed to enhance fundamental sciences for the sustainable development of our civilization. "We also wish to contribute to the development of Dubna as a tourist center, presenting itself as a city of science and high technology. I am convinced that Dubna has a bright future, we wish the city further prosperity and its citizens - goodness, health and prosperity," JINR Director said. The JINR Hall is located on the second floor of the Dubna Museum in the building of the Bolshaya Volga railway station. Museum Director Elena Chertovskikh said that this was a long-awaited event, but not the only joint work with JINR. In the corridors of the museum there is an exhibition of Yuri Tumanov's work. A few years ago, an exhibition of JINR photographers "Freeze Frame" was organised. "This is a very important event for us, we are grateful to Boris Starchenko, Yury Panebratsev, Nikita Sidorov and his development group," E.Chertovskikh said.
At the opening ceremony, JINR Vice-Director Vladimir Kekelidze noted that the words "Dubna" and "JINR" would not be perceived just as synonyms. The city and the Institute have been developing harmoniously and dynamically for all 66 years. And today, thanks to the assistance of the museum staff and the city administration, there is an opportunity to show the projects and research carried out by the multinational JINR team both within the framework of their own projects and in international collaborations. As to Head of the city Sergey Kulikov, today tourists and all citizens who cannot get to the Institute's sites with excursions, have the opportunity to learn about the activities of the city-forming enterprise and see the scale of ongoing projects. In addition, this is an additional popularization of science. The first tour of the exhibition was conducted by VBLHEP software engineer Nikita Sidorov. The JINR Business Card stand is dedicated to the history of the Institute's establishment, structure and basic facilities. There is also a so-called "entry point" - using a QR code, one can get the contacts of the JINR University Centre and ask questions about employment, participation in practices or schools, excursions. Separate stands are dedicated to the NICA project and the Factory of Superheavy Elements. Virtual tours of the accelerator complexes in VR glasses are possible here, information about projects is available. In addition, there is a "showcase" in the hall with an interactive map of the village of the Hydrotechnical Laboratory of 1953. On it, one can see how the appearance of buildings changed when Joliot-Curie Street was central.
In an interview for our newspaper, N. Sidorov said that the exposition had been created within a year headed by Yury Panebrattsev, Head of the UC department. The team had worked seven days a week, in a very busy schedule, in order to be in time for the City Day. In addition to the departments of the Institute, a large team of InterGraphics and Dubna enterprises had been involved in the process as well that helped with the installation of the facility. To create a historical interactive map of the village, they had closely cooperated with the scientific and organizational department.
"With the team of Yu.Panebrattsev and N.Sidorov, it is not the first joint project we work on," Head of the Scientific Information Division B.Starchenko says. "At one time, when there were no large electronic devices, we made an exhibition about JINR that was successfully demonstrated in several countries, including the Slovak Technical Museum and its branches. This cooperation develops today. And if earlier we could provide more in terms of archival materials, photographs, films, video filming, today the employees have more opportunities in terms of modern presentation of material. We just reversed roles, but we keep on cooperating with each other." This exposition, in contrast to the one presented in the Cultural Centre "Mir", was made in a mobile version. In the city museum it will be available for visiting until 1 September, 2023. On the same day, two more historical exhibitions were opened in the city museum: "Gangutskaya Viktoria", dedicated to one of the major battles in the history of the fleet, and "Dubna Shipyard of Peter the Great" - about the construction of ships in the area of today's Yurkino Street.
