Traditional memorial

On 25 September, the 53rd traditional athletics run in memory of Academician V.I.Veksler was held. 373 athletes from Dubna, Bely Gorodok, Dmitrov, Dolgoprudny, Domodedovo, Zaprudnya, Kimry, Konakovo, Moscow, Taldom participated in the run.

- Today is a great day, despite the not very favorable weather, - Head of Dubna S.A.Kulikov greeted the participants of the run.

- The main thing is that everyone who likes running has gathered here. This sport attracts runners from both the right and the left districts of the city; it is a good festive association of Dubna sportsmen.

On behalf of the Directorate of the Joint Institute of Athletes, Head of the Department of Social Infrastructure A.V.Tamonov welcomed, noting that the athletes were not afraid of the changeable autumn weather, wished everyone success, victory and "only forward!"

Schoolchildren of the city and amateur athletes traditionally participate in the run.

Physical education teacher of school No.9 I.M.Krupenin: I have been in sports since early childhood. My father and elder brother played football and I have been playing football all my life - at the age of 47 I spent the last season, then I intensively trained until I was 54. Later I started running and at the age of 57 I ran my first half marathon, at 62 - my first marathon, at 64 - my first ultramarathon. A week ago I participated in the Moscow Marathon, today I am here.

- This is not the first time you are participating in the Veksler run, is it?

- Not the first, but I don't really like the distances of 4 and 8 km, a longer one can be organized in the forest in the "Chernaya Rechka" district, for example.

It is not the first year the JINR employee M.V.Zhabitsky participates in the run with his son Sergey: I started running as a schoolboy - it was about forty years ago. And we have been running with children for probably eight years already ... - Is it? Less, - Sergey is surprised.

- You were still in kindergarten and today you are a sixth grader.

- And how's it going?

- Children are champions, I try to keep up.

And, indeed, in his age group at a distance of 4 km, Mikhail Zhabitsky became the third. There are also winners and prize-winners among 22 JINR employees who participated in the run. At a distance of 4 km, Milena Kalinina and Maria Alikina won in their age groups, Aleksandr Podshibyakin won the second place and Nadezhda Agapova took the third place. Aleksey Altynov became the third at a distance of 8 km.
