Art of the Soviet period

A unique exhibition "House of Culture of the USSR" has opened in the Central Exhibition Hall Manege in Moscow. Among other exhibits, six mosaic panels by Nadia Leger from Dubna are exhibited. They are exhibited in the capital for the first time as part of this museum project.

Many citizens of Dubna have visited this exhibition. Judging by the feedback, they have walked through the halls for three hours and it has been possible more. Architect, curator of educational and art projects of the Moscow School of Architecture Maria Pichugina comments on the event specially for our newspaper:

"Despite its laconic name, the exhibition "House of Culture of the USSR" fills the entire ground floor of Manezh in Moscow. The occasion for the exhibition is the hundredth anniversary of the establishment of the Soviet country and the goal is to reveal to visitors all areas of cultural activity of that era: from the early architectural designs of workers' clubs to musical experiments and theatrical art. A spacious enfilade of semi-dark halls moves us, as if in a time machine, through the areas of art, such as, children's book illustration, Soviet photography, painting styles and easel art. There is a whole section dedicated to the competition for the design of the Palace of Soviets.

There is so much information and exhibits that it will take several hours for focused immersion into the areas of creativity presented. And yet, it will not be easy to pay equal attention to each section, the exposition is really incredibly detailed and multifaceted.

The exhibition design of spaces and its architecture draws visitors' attention. High partitions made of black fabric and illuminated polycarbonate by planet 9 create an energetic environment of very different places - from secluded, intimate to front and spacious, each of which complements and beats the chosen topic. In a word, "House of Culture of the USSR" is a large-scale project that allows you to immerse yourself in the world of comprehensive artistic explorations and discoveries of the Soviet era for a long time. One is surprised that such a large-scale event is scheduled for only two months - from 3 February to 2 April."
