On 19 - 23 June, AYSS holds the first School of Accelerator Physics.

Almost three dozen young specialists have gathered at the JINR Tourist Base "Lipnya" to get some idea of accelerator physics and learn about the latest achievements in science and technology in the field of charged particle beam physics and accelerator technology.

The programme of the School includes lectures on the basics of accelerator physics and the facilities used in this field, such as sources of light particles and heavy ions, polarized beams, synchrotrons. A set of lectures on the JINR projects "From the Synchrophasotron to the NICA Collider" on the design of complexes, structure, control, experiments is provided for young scientists. The programme includes lectures on the application of accelerator physics beyond scientific experiments. The participants will learn how this aspect is used in the development of vacuum, microwave and HF technology, in electronic cooling and power supply systems. In addition, the programme provides for discussion sessions on scientific projects for participants.

AYSS Council Chairman Vladislav Rozhkov noted that the School aroused a keen interest in VBLHEP. FLNR has already started preparations for the next School of Accelerator Physics. DLNP is also ready to join this initiative.
