Tournament under the scorching sun

On 5 and 6 August, the 24th tournament in memory of Soviet and Russian physicists, RAS Corresponding Members Venedikt and Boris Dzhelepovs was held at the JINR tennis courts on Komsomolskaya embankment.

This is the largest tournament in 2023 in Dubna, organized by the Tennis Federation of the Northwestern Region of Russia and the Dubna Tennis Federation with the support of JINR. 44 adults and 16 young athletes took part in the tournament that is an absolute record in recent years. The guests of honor of the tournament were General Dmitry Faddeev, pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation Sergey Treschev, Head of the city of Dolgoprudny Vladislav Yudin, Senator from the Kemerovo region Alexey Sinitsyn. At the opening ceremony, participants and guests were welcomed by the Tournament Director Igor Dzhelepov, JINR Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov and Acting Head of the Dubna City District Maxim Tikhomirov. Weather conditions, air temperature +35°C, did not allow the full play of the children's tournament and mixed, so the panel of judges decided to award all semi-finalists in the mixed and all participants of the children's tournament with memorable prizes.

The winners and prize-winners of the men's doubles tournament were:

1st place - Igor Novikov and Dmitry Vitaliev;

2nd place - Sergey Treshchev and Oleg Koshcheev;

3rd place - Alexander Mikhan and Ivan Sushkov.
