Joy in creativity

On the square in front of the JINR Cultural Centre "Mir", it is impossible not to notice the skillfully executed mosaic "carpet": sun glare plays on colored pebbles, enlivening the composition and in combination with the mosaics of Nadya Leger, unites the space into a single harmonious complex.

Elena Troyan, Mikhail Polyakov and Eleonora Yamaleeva

There are hundreds of authors of this work. The idea was first expressed by Deputy Director of the JINR Cultural Centre "Mir" Elena Troyan and was offered for implementation to Mikhail Polyakov that consistently brings to life his dream of making the city an open-air mosaic gallery.

Last October, during Mikhail's exhibition at the Cultural Centre "Mir", a master class was held. Anyone could take part in it and quite a few of them gathered. For four hours, creative work was in full swing: literally, the whole world created a sketch of the mosaic. The main topic was declared to be art and science. The result was a floor composition in the Roman style.

Fragments of this folk masterpiece combine Volga waves, theatrical masks, artistic palette and other symbols of meeting with the beautiful, triumph of the creative spirit. But the most important thing is that it captures the desire of the citizens to make their city beautiful, joyful, welcoming.

The Cultural Centre "Mir" thanks everyone that took part in this initiative. And the citizens of Dubna, in turn, will more than once thank the staff of the Cultural Centre for such an unusual meeting with art and for the opportunity to capture their idea on the streets of their hometown.
