City news A modern campus will be established in DubnaThe idea of establishing a modern university campus in a science city near Moscow has long been in the air, widely discussed and is currently put into practice.Representatives of the city administration, JINR, the Dubna SEZ and the Dubna University jointly develop the concept of an ambitious project. Its presentation and discussion of the implementation stages was held at a round table at the Congress Centre. In addition to the initiators of the idea, supported by the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov, the event was attended by representatives of the city-forming enterprises of the science city and residents of the SEZ. "The SEZ develops dynamically, new investors come to our business platform, current residents expand their areas and production and today, companies every year have a need for almost a thousand specialists, including non-resident specialists that need to be provided with housing," the Deputy General Director JSC "SEZ TVT "Dubna" Victoria Khalimendik noted. "The world-class campus project specifically provides for the construction of hotel complexes for temporary residence, as well as the training of specialized specialists needed specifically by the Moscow region and enterprises. Acting Rector of Dubna University Andrey Denikin presented the future campus, set priorities for the university and talked about what facilities will be built. The latter include the Centre for Advanced Competencies and the R&D Centre of the university, the engineering building and the natural sciences building, a hotel complex with accommodation for up to 2600 people, technology parks and the Ice Arena sports complex. It is also expected to build open sports grounds, a football field, bicycle paths, public gardens and recreation areas, as well as other infrastructure. The campus will be established on the territory of the Dubna Special Economic Zone with the involvement of funds from the federal budget and private investment. During President Vladimir Putin's visit to the science city at the last Council on Science and Education that was held at the site of the international scientific centre - the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov spoke about key projects for the development of the science city, including the idea of establishing a campus. The third competition for projects to establish university campuses will be held in August. Currently, the initiators of the idea prepare an application for the competitive procedure that will detail quantitative data on the impact of the expected results of the campus on the economy, social sphere of the science city and the Moscow region as a whole.
