A delegation from Baku visited JINR

On 23-24 January, the representatives of the universities of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited JINR. The delegation was headed by the founder of Khazar University (Baku) Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Hamlet Isaev.

At the meeting in the Directorate of the Institute, the parties discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation between JINR and Azerbaijan. Among the most promising areas of future cooperation were engineering, natural and information sciences, theoretical and applied physics, chemistry, biology, nanotechnology and mathematics. On behalf of JINR, the event was attended by Director of the Institute Grigory Trubnikov, Vice-Directors Sergey Dmitriev and Lachesar Kostov, Chief Scientific Secretary Sergey Nedelko, Director of DLNP Evgeny Yakushev, Head of the Department of International Cooperation Otilia-Ana Culicov and Head of the Azerbaijani national group at JINR Senior Researcher at DLNP Nazim Huseynov. The delegation from Azerbaijan, headed by the founder of Khazar University Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Hamlet Isaev, included Head of the department of physics and electronics of Khazar University Farida Tatardar, professor of biomedicine and medicinal chemistry, Head of the university research group Sudabe Davaran, as well as the Scientific Secretary of Baku State University Yegyana Aliyeva.

One of the key points of the visit's work programme was a seminar organized at DLNP. During the event, the members of the delegation told the audience about the main activities of Khazar University, as well as the areas of its scientific research. Aspects of international cooperation in the field of science and education and partner organizations of the university in the world were presented. The possibilities of expanding the JINR partner network in the Middle East as a result of development of contacts with Khazar University were discussed. At the same time, they discussed the organization of educational programmes and internships for students from different countries studying at the university on the basis of the JINR scientific infrastructure. Also, representatives of the university expressed interest in involving JINR scientists in the educational process of the institution and developing cooperation in the area of academic mobility.

As founder of Khazar University Hamlet Isaev noted in his commentary, the purpose of the current visit was to establish stronger scientific ties between educational organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and JINR. "We are interested in all areas represented in the seven laboratories of the Joint Institute. Today, we discussed quite specific cooperation plans and projects that we will implement together," Hamlet Isaev added. It is expected that in the foreseeable future a number of conferences, seminars and meetings with students will be organized in Baku, in which leading JINR scientists will take part.

During the visit, the delegation learnt about in detail the areas of scientific research and objects of the scientific infrastructure of JINR and held meetings with leading scientists in the laboratories of the Institute. The guests visited LRB, DLNP, MLIT and FLNR. Members of the delegation also visited the JINR UC, where they learned more about the capabilities and activities of the Institute in the field of personnel training and discussed possible steps to build cooperation in this area.

The visit of the representatives of Azerbaijani educational centres to Dubna was development of contacts established with JINR during working meetings and seminars held in Baku with the participation of DLNP Director Evgeny Yakushev in December last year within the framework of the Conference "Modern Trends in Physics - 2023", organized by Baku State University.
