Olympiad crowns the academic year

The academic year for the Physics and Mathematics elective ended with the traditional 31st open Olympiad for students of the sixth and seventh grades. 25 students of the seventh grade and 34 students of the fifth and sixth grades were interested in solving non-standard tasks in physics and mathematics. For some of them, our Olympiad was the first test of abilities, but there are those who have already shown interest in the exact sciences. The results are as follows.

6th grade. Winners: Zhabitsky Sergey (5A, lyceum No.6), Shitov Leonty (6A, gymnasium No.3), Smirnova Anna (6B, PhML named after V.G.Kadyshevsky).

Prize-winners: Dubinin Vladimir (6A, PhML named after V.G.Kadyshevsky), Belozerova Kira (5A, lyceum No.6), Anisimov Maksim (5A, gymnasium No.11), Tarabrin Artem (6B, gymnasium No.11).

7th grade. Winners: Zabrodin Pavel (7, Lyceum No.6), Maksimov Potap (7A, PhML named after V.G.Kadyshevsky), Ulitin Rodion (7B, PhML named after V.G.Kadyshevsky).

Prize-winners: Razumnaya Daria (7A, lyceum No.6), Agapov Anton (7A, lyceum No.6), Gridnev German (7A, lyceum No.6), Tropina Ekaterina (7B, PhML named after V.G.Kadyshevsky).

The Olympiad was organised and conducted by the elective teachers Aleksandr Leonovich, Aleksandra Shornikova, Valentin Sadilov, Evgenia Zhabitskaya and Mikhail Zhabitsky. Senior students of the elective took part in organising the Olympiad. This year, ninth-grade students Anastasia Tomaily and Victoria Tuchina acted as attendants in the classrooms. Taisiya Zlotnikova, a 9th grade student and the winner of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics, took an active part in preparing tasks and checking them.

In general, the elective ended the year with positive dynamics. After a break of more than a year due to the coronavirus infection, students are happy to respond to offers to go to team math competitions. On 17 April, three elective teams at once performed effectively in Chernogolovka at the Rubik's Cube World Cup 2022 tournament for solving entertaining tasks and puzzles.

During April, two teams competed in the tournament of mathematical battles of the Vzlyot Educational Center. Participants of more than 100 teams from all over the Moscow region solved complex non-standard tasks and defended their solutions in front of opposing teams. In a serious competitive battle, the 7!! team as part of Anton Agapov, Dmitry Gomzin, Sergey Zhabitsky, Pavel Zabrodin, Ilya Kostromin and Rodion Ulitin won the tournament in the online major league of the 7th grades. The Dubna-7 team (German Gridnev, Daria Davydova, Anton Kulagin, Sabina Kulikova, Vsevolod Sokolov, Andrey Zhuravlev) took 6th place among 24 teams of the major league in a persistent battle. The experience of mathematical battles helps students in the future: the skills of team solving complex tasks, the ability to briefly and fully state their decision, listen to and understand the report of opponents and ask clear questions on the merits are developed. All this attracts students: this year Dmitry Gomzin and Pavel Zabrodin joined the team almost in parallel with participation in the J.K. Maxwell Olympiad (an analogue of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in physics for students of the seventh and eighth grades) and became winners.

The work of the elective would not have been possible without the help of many caring people. I would especially like to thank the staff of School No. 9, where we hold regular classes, the staff of the D.I. Blokhintsev Universal Library of JINR and the Directorate of the JINR University Centre.

In June, the elective goes on summer holidays. In September, the jubilee - twentieth academic year of the elective will begin: we are looking forward to have students interested in the exact sciences in our classes!
