On Friday, 16 December, a significant event for the citizens of Dubna was held in the Medical Unit No.9. Heads of the Medical Unit, representatives of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, the Dubna City Administration, in the presence of invited guests, solemnly cut the ribbon on the doors of a new Rehabilitation Centre with a hydropathic establishment.

The Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation Centre occupies a whole wing on the ground floor of the therapeutic building of the Medical Unit No.9. At the time of the grand opening, the first patients were already waiting in the corridors and procedures were underway in some of the rooms - the hydropathic establishment immediately started functioning.

Rehabilitation on the high-tech equipment in the Medical Centre is intended for people with disorders of the locomotor apparatus disorders, neurological and cardiac diseases, as well as those that recover from injuries or surgical interventions. COVID-19 patients can also be treated here.

Head of the Medical Unit No.9 Irina Larionova personally led the guests through the rooms, spoke about the possibilities of the ultra-modern medical equipment installed in the Rehabilitation Centre. They include baths for underwater spinal traction, Vuoksa and Vichy showers, a non-contact hydromassage couch and a special bath for patients with limited mobility. In addition, there is a separate room with exercise equipment for therapeutic physical training. The establishment also provides heat therapy, mud therapy, electrophototherapy and has a pressure chamber.

According to Irina Larionova, the rehabilitation programmes at the Medical Centre are drawn up using the latest techniques to ensure that positive effects of the procedures are not delayed and are felt by patients from the very first sessions. All staff members of the new division of the Medical Unit No.9, both doctors and paramedical staff have undergone professional retraining and been awarded appropriate Certificates.

The construction of the most advanced Rehabilitation Complex in Dubna is the fruit of the initiative and energy of Directorate of the Medical Unit No.9. Greater support has been provided by the FMBA of Russia that includes Medical Unit No.9, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the Dubna City Administration.

As for financing the Project of establishment of a Rehabilitation Centre with a hydropathic, it has been carried out, without exaggeration, "by the whole world". The Medical unit No.9, among 47 other organizations of FMBA of Russia, was able to enter the Federal Project on the Restoration of Health and Medical Rehabilitation of the Population. In 2022, the state allocated over 500 million rubles for it and the Dubna Centre also was partially funded by the state to purchase the equipment. In addition, part of the funds was allocated from its own profits by the Medical Unit No.9. The Dubna City Administration, JINR, enterprises of the city and benefactors have also helped with financing and implementation of the work.

Deputy Head for Medical Services of the Medical Unit No.9 Oksana Lekova explained that the Centre is staffed with specialists in accordance with the Norms and Standards of the Ministry of Health. Doctors, exercise therapy instructors, massage therapists and other staff members have been trained and certified in their specialties at the Institute for Professional Development and Enhanced Training of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia, as well as have undertaken practical training at the workplace.

Procedures in the Rehabilitation Centre are available both within the framework of the compulsory medical insurance system for the citizens of Dubna attached to the Medical Unit No.9 that receive the appropriate referral from the attending physician, as well as for all comers - on a fee basis.

During her speech at the opening ceremony of the Rehabilitation Centre, Head of the Medical Unit No.9 Irina Larionova announced the opening of another advanced department in this medical institution in the near future. She has not yet disclosed the details, preferring to maintain an intrigue. Well, let's see what additional innovation the Medical Unit in the institute part of the city will please the citizens of Dubna.
