Exactly one week after having obtained the new IBR-2 reactor vessel from NIKIET, after careful preparation, the vessel was installed in its regular place - in the reactor shaft (in the photo). This very important operation was successful and was carried out by a specially developed team of FLNP specialists. Currently, the team will have to carry out scheduled work on joining and connecting the vessel with other technological equipment.

Head of the Federal Agency for Management of Special Economic Zones A.A.Alpatov, General Director of JSC SEZ S.I.Levkin, the first Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Region Government A.V.Gornostaev, representatives of federal executive bodies, executive bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, scientific and business circles took part in the opening ceremony of the Dubna SEZ site.

In order for technology implementation zones to become real locomotives and finally to move the economy of our country forward, directing it to the path of development, a precise specialization of these zones is needed in accordance with the specifics of the development of the territory which each zone is located on, JINR Director Academician A.N.Sisakyan emphasized. Such as, in Dubna, the SEZ should have a specialization in the field of nuclear physics and nanotechnology, he believes. Technology implementation zones should become sites where different ways and techniques for attracting venture capital for the implementation of scientific ideas in serial production will be developed. According to JINR Director, this "seed phase" should be specially supported by legislative means.

Within the framework of the 3rd round table on the NICA/MPD project, a discussion of this new and promising large experimental project of JINR was held at BLTP JINR. The NICA accelerator complex is designed to update and maintain the experimental base of JINR in the field of High Energy Physics. It is necessary to preserve the Institute as a large functioning and modern scientific centre on the Russian territory, whose stability and success the life of Dubna as a whole depends on. Only a large project with a daring scientific idea can inspire new power, revive the atmosphere of scientific creativity and fill the laboratories with young inquisitive researchers. This is exactly what the NICA project is. Although it belongs to the category of "home" JINR projects, it has international status. The ambitious tasks set by the project's theoreticians require the most advanced research tools and techniques. And here, in order to select the optimal decisions for developing devices and equipment for the NICA accelerator complex, both international project expertise and cooperation with specialists from the world's leading nuclear physics centres in the field of High Energy Physics are very much needed.

The current work on the project is supervised by the International Coordination Committee chaired by Academician A.N.Sisakyan, whose members, along with the JINR leaders and employees of the NICA/MPD centre, are Academician V.A.Matveev (INR RAS), professors M.Gazdzicki (Frankfurt University, Germany), H.Gutbrot (FAIR GSI, Germany), T.Hollman (BNL, USA), V.Savrin (NIIP MSU), I.Tserruya (Weizmann Institute, Israel), G.Zinoviev (ITP NASU, Ukraine).

A festive evening dedicated to the 84th anniversary of the proclamation of the Mongolian People's Republic was held in the JINR Culture Centre "Mir". The evening was attended by JINR Vice-Director R.Lednicky, Deputy Head of the Department of Scientific and Organizational Work and International Cooperation V.Khmelovski, JINR Scientific Leader, Honorary Professor of the Mongolian National University, Cavalier of the Mongolian Order " Polar Star" V.Kadyshevsky, Director of the Laboratory of Nuclear Physics A.Belushkin, JINR employees and representatives of the city's public. Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of Mongolia at JINR, Executive Secretary of the Nuclear Energy Commission of the Government of Mongolia Professor Tseren Damdinsuren opened a photo exhibition dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the development of the Mongolian state. The Second Secretary of the Embassy of Mongolia in the Russian Federation Ms. Nyamaa Chimeg congratulated the participants on the holiday.

The exhibition of paintings by the students of the Dubna Art School "JINR - through the eyes of children" that was held in the JINR Culture Centre "Mir" attracted many visitors. What is JINR in children's imagination? In most paintings, it is a bearded (or beardless, but with a moustache) scientist in a white coat, sitting at a table with a computer (with books, flasks, sometimes, a cat or family members nearby). For some reason, a scientist in children's imagination is always a man. Eight-year-old Nikita Nedelko depicted not only a computer and flasks, but also a refractor telescope surrounded by his scientist. The ocean depths with an underwater bathyscaphe and a variety of animals were also presented in an elegant drawing by Egor Orelovich. Portraits of A.Einstein and Archimedes were guessed. The painting by Vladislav Dergunov captured the image of N.N.Bogolyubov, reading some important document in front of a microphone. Another scientist reading the magazine "Science and Life" was presented. Probably, in the children's imagination, this is the magazine that real scientists should read...
