JINR Director met with President of Kazakhstan

Director of the Joint Institute Grigory Trubnikov has taken part in a meeting with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev aimed at discussing prospects for the development of nuclear science. On the same day, Academician Trubnikov met with Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov. In addition, the JINR Director visited the branch of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Astana.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted that Kazakhstan, a JINR Member State, has scientific organizations and infrastructure capable of providing scientific and technical support for the nuclear industry. During the discussion, participants of the meeting exchanged their opinions on the development of atomic energy in Kazakhstan, the use of modern nuclear technologies, practical training for highly qualified employees.

President of the Chiyoda Technol Corporation (Japan) Ataru Inoue and a leading researcher of the Institute Laue-Langevin (ILL, France) Valery Nesvizhevsky were participants of the event as well. Leaders of foreign scientific organizations expressed their interest in close cooperation with Kazakhstan.

Moreover, before the event, Grigory Trubnikov had a meeting with Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan to JINR Member States. In addition, the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Almaty, JINR's long-standing partner, celebrates its 65th anniversary. The International Scientific Forum "Nuclear Science and Technologies" held on 26 - 30 September was dedicated to this event. The Forum was held with an extended participation of the JINR delegation. In particular, a round table of JINR and the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place within the event. Participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of cooperation formats, prospects for cooperation development, first of all, in the fields of large-scale research infrastructure, scientific activities, and staff training. On the same days, Grigory Trubnikov made a visit to the branch of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Astana on the platform of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
