Happy birthday, dear Institute!

On 25 March, a gala evening dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the foundation of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research was held at the Cultural Centre "Mir".

At the opening, JINR Director Grigory Trubnikov noted, "This is a special day for every employee of the Institute. A day filled with pride for our international research centre. The commonwealth of researchers from different countries gathered in Dubna, with their desire to look beyond the horizon of the known and the denial of the boundaries of knowledge has made our Institute unique." In the welcoming speech, the results of the past seven-year period were listed: six isotopes observed at the Superheavy Element Factory, the longest commissioning cycle in history at the NICA complex, new data on exotic signals from space obtained by the neutrino telescope on Lake Baikal, modernization of the Govorun supercomputer. The expansion of international cooperation was highlighted, including with the countries of Latin America, India, the Republic of Korea and the signing of important agreements with Mexico and China.

The activities of the Joint Institute are based on three aspects - science, education, innovation. Each day at the Institute is filled with achievements in these areas. Weekends, holidays, free time on weekdays for many of the JINR employees are related to creativity, art and hobbies. All these concepts are surprisingly intertwined on this solemn day. Opening of a photo exhibition, awarding of the best JINR staff members, awarding of grants to teachers of the city. And the evening ended with a concert "Harmony of the spheres: art and science" that was attended by JINR staff, pupils of the Children's Music School, creative teams of the Cultural Centre "Mir" and our city.
