JINR achievements presented to the Russian Academy of Sciences
On 27 May, at the General Meeting of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, JINR Director Academician Grigory Trubnikov, Deputy Head of the Accelerator Department of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics Anatoly Sidorin and Acting Director of VBLHEP Andrey Butenko were awarded the Veksler Prize, a RAS award given every three years for outstanding papers in accelerator physics.
The Prize was awarded for the series of papers "Multifunctional complex of heavy ion accelerators". The stages of practical implementation of a new concept of an accelerator complex for obtaining accelerated nuclei of all stable elements of the periodic table with relativistic energies are described in the series of papers. The concept is based on the use of a cascade of two synchrotrons: the Booster and the Nuclotron.
On the same day, at the meeting of the Scientific Session of the General Assembly of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, JINR Scientific Leader and RAS Academician Victor Matveev presented a report "The most important achievements in research of fundamental problems in nuclear physics over the past 25 years and their future prospects".
