News from the Laboratory From Europe to AsiaOn 15 January, the Sector of Neutron Activation Analysis and Applied Research of the Department of Nuclear Physics of FLNP held a kick-off virtual meeting via JINR.mts-link.ru with possible participants of the programme for biomonitoring air pollution in countries of Asia and the Pacific coast.Russian scientists from universities in Vladivostok, Perm and Yakutia, as well as colleagues from Mongolia, Pakistan, Turkey and Sri Lanka took part in the meeting. For a number of reasons, China, India and Vietnam did not participate, but participants from these countries, as well as from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, will be informed about the reports of Marina Frontasyeva and Inga Zinkovskaya, posted on the communication website https://jinr.mts-link.ru/j/122104959/475946524. The participants of the meeting learnt about the 30-year experience of the Sector for investigation of air pollution in Europe based on the analysis of moss-biomonitors (https://icpvegetation.ceh.ac.uk/) and the analytical techniques that the SNAAAR uses for implementing such investigations. The next meeting is scheduled for March, at which plans for participation in the next single-point collection of moss-biomonitors in 2025-2026 will be discussed, not only in Europe, but also in Asia and in the countries of the Pacific coast. In his welcoming speech, the official representative of the Russian Federation to UNESCO, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Professor B.Yu.Sharkov wished success to the participants of the meeting and guaranteed support for this programme at JINR.
