A session of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries of JINR Member States was held on 21 – 22 November 2014 in Dubna.The results of JINR activity in 2014 and plans for 2015, the draft of the JINR budget for the next year and the draft of the membership’s fee of the JINR Member States for 2016, 2017 and 2018 were among discussed issues.

Geneva 20 November 2014. CERN launched today its Open Data Portal where data from real collision events, produced by the LHC experiments will for the first time be made openly available to all. It is expected that these data will be of high value for the research community, and also be used for education purposes.

The memorial plaque for Yuri Tumanov was opened on 14 November 2014 at the area of the Dzhelepov Laboratory of Nuclear Problems. Yuri Tumanov was an outstanding Russian press photographer, master of scientific photography and, according to the figurative expression of one of the Russian Academicians, the world had seen Dubna through the lens of his camera for many decades.

Coordination of this programme was handed over to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Russia at the regular meeting of the working group of the UN Commission on Air in Europe, which was held on 29 January 2014 in Paris.

Subsequent to the discussion of the jury the Award of Academician B.M.Pontecorvo of the year 2013 was granted to Professor Luciano Maiani (University of Rome, Italy) for his outstanding contribution to particle physics, in particular weak interaction physics and neutrino physics.

The 115th regular session of the JINR Scientific Council will begin on Thursday, 20 February 2014 in the International Conference Hall. The meeting will open at 10 a.m.
